SAP Systems Accountant

We are currently seeking an experienced SAP Finance Systems Accountant to join a major government organisation based in Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a large and complex SAP environment, supporting finance systems, reconciliation processes, and financial integrity across the organisation.

This role is ideal for a qualified accountant with strong SAP experience who understands both finance processes and enterprise systems, and who enjoys operating at the intersection of accounting and technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the integrity and accuracy of financial data within the SAP finance system
• Perform and oversee complex balance sheet and financial reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances across SAP finance modules
• Work closely with finance, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure financial processes are functioning effectively within SAP
• Assist with system-related finance improvements, controls, and process optimisation
• Provide subject matter expertise on finance processes within a large-scale SAP environment

Key Requirements

• Accounting background with strong financial and reconciliation expertise
• Demonstrated experience working as a Systems Accountant in an SAP environment
• Experience working within large, complex organisations using SAP
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliation processes, and financial data structures
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to analyse financial data and troubleshoot system-related issues

Highly Regarded (but not essential)

• Prior exposure to SAP FICO functional configuration
• Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA or ECC finance landscapes
• Experience working within government or highly regulated environments
