Meet the Team: Keely Shay

Tell us a bit of Keely Shay history:
I was born in Geelong and spent the first 21 years of my life there before moving up to the inner city. Throughout high school I was in a Geelong based all girl soul band as a keyboard player. I was lucky enough to go on two European tours with them and played at many international music festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival, Porretta Soul Festival and Jazz a Vienne.
Once I finished school I had no desire to continue with music, however I had always excelled at mathematics so I went on to study a Bachelor of Mathematics at RMIT. While studying I was given the opportunity to volunteer in Tanzania on a construction project so I went over and lived in a small village for a few weeks and helped with the construction of the local school. At the end of the program I stayed on to climb Mt Kilimanjaro and can now say I have summited the highest free standing mountain in the world!
While studying my degree I realised that my heart just wasn’t in a career in mathematics, so I put my study on hold and got a job as a travel agent. After 3 years and many more overseas trips I decided I couldn’t see myself working in travel forever and went out to find something new and exciting. I was lucky enough to get this role at Speller International and I can’t wait to see what my future in SAP recruitment holds!
Having recently joined the Speller team, what are you most looking forward to in your role as SAP recruiter?
I am most looking forward to learning from such an experienced group of people. As I am new to the world of SAP I have a lot to learn, however I have a great support network here at Speller and I can’t wait to hit the ground running and become an integral part of this well established team.
Where do we find you in your down time?
At home listening to records with my partner and our two cats Disco and Kevin
Eating a burger at either Hello Sam, Beer & Burger Bar or Tuckshop Takeaway (just to name a few of my favourites)
Having a boogie at a dance music festival
What does 2018 hold both professionally and personally for you?
Professionally I hope to expand my skills in recruitment and learn as much as possible about the many roles within SAP. Personally I’d like to buy a house with my partner in the inner city
