Senior Helpdesk Support Officer
12-Month Contract | 100% on site in Clayton | Australian Citizenship mandatory
We are seeking an experienced Senior Helpdesk Support Officer to join a high-performing ICT Operations team supporting a complex enterprise technology environment.
This position will be suited for someone with AGSVA security clearance.
This role is ideal for a hands-on support professional with strong Linux administration experience and a solid background in Windows desktop and infrastructure support. You'll play a key role in delivering Level 1 and Level 2 support, maintaining critical systems, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support across desktop, laptop, mobile, and peripheral devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and network-related issues.
- Support Linux-based environments, including user administration, system maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, authentication services, and endpoint management.
- Manage incidents and service requests through the ITSM platform.
- Support security patching, vulnerability remediation, and access management processes.
- Contribute to infrastructure stability, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and project teams to deliver quality outcomes.
About You
- Experience in a Helpdesk, Service Desk, Desktop Support, or Technical Support role within a government setting
- Strong Linux administration skills across Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting Windows desktop environments and Microsoft technologies.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management tools.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and remote access technologies.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based service management and ticketing systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Desirable Experience
- RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, LPIC, or similar Linux certifications.
- Experience supporting government, defence, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Scripting and automation experience using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure operating environments.
